Kehilla Community Synagogue, now located in Piedmont, CA, was founded in 1983. Our family were among its first members and we have been active from the first.
I founded and am still active in the Synagogue's Middle East Committee. We have recently begun to work actively on the peace path by looking at how each side has its own 'Narrative' and rejects that of the other. We have been inspired by the life and work of Martin Buber who realized true peace in the region requires for both sides to truly 'live together'. Check out our recent Brit Shalom (Covenant of Peace) Document on the Kehilla web site.
We are excited by the recent re-release of a collection of Martin Buber's work, A Land of Two Peoples. The book is a collection of writings on his efforts to promote Zionism in peace with their Palestinian neighbors. I am working on a graphic exhibition based on Buber's ideas and their ongoing inspiration for peace activists.
